Meadow Brook Theatre Staff Openings
Meadow Brook Theatre, in Rochester Michigan, is currently accepting resumes/applications for our 2026-2027
season. We fully produce 6 shows a season and remount A Christmas Carol every season. We are looking for
versatility in our interns, the ability to work in several different departments and a positive can-do attitude.
Staff Positions
Scenic Shop Foreperson (1)
Meadow Brook Theatre located on the Campus of Oakland University, in Rochester, Michigan is accepting
applications for Scenic Shop Foreperson. This season MBT will produces 6 shows and will remount “A Christmas
Carol”. This position is covered under an IATSE contract (applicant does not need to hold an IATSE card). The
Shop Foreman can also could be pulled to run a show or help with other departments as needed.
Requirements:
-3 yrs. professional experience minimum
-AutoCAD experience
-Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings
-Knowledge and ability to follow and enforce shop safety procedures
-Strong organizational and time management skills
-Proficient with hand and power tool use and basic repairs
-experience leading crews of 3-8
-Strong knowledge of scenery construction.
-Able to lift at least 60lbs
-Able to work at heights of 25’
-Basic Welding
-Basic rigging
-Clean driving record
-Can drive a 26ft truck
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Multitasking skills
-Highly motivated and willing to learn.
-Good attitude and work ethic.
-Sense of humor
-Ability to take instruction and feedback from supervisors.
Preferred Skills
-Basic scenic painting
-Lighting skills
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
-Construction, load-in and strike all scenic elements.
-Maintain a safe work environment, following all safety procedures and guidelines as outlined by the
Technical Director
-Picking up materials/transporting scenic elements.
-Theatre maintenance
-Could run shows
-Cleaning

Positions/descriptions available:
Scene Shop Intern (1)
Would work primarily in the Scene Shop – Scenic Paint skills a plus
Must be able to lift at least 60lbs
Willing to work at heights of 20’-25’
Would be on the backstage crew for A Christmas Carol and at least 1 other show
Would be involved in all Light hang and focus calls
Costume Interns (1) –must have the skills to stitch and be on wardrobe crew.
Must have basic sewing skills
Wigs, make-up and Craft Skills a plus
Willing to work at heights of 20’-25’
Would be on the wardrobe crew for A Christmas Carol and at least 1 other show
Would be involved in all Light hang and focus calls
SM/PM Intern (1)
Position includes points toward becoming equity
Assisting the SM in rehearsals
Willing to work at heights of 20’-25’
Would be on the backstage crew for A Christmas Carol and at least 1 other show
Would be involved in all Light hang and focus calls
Lighting/Scene Shop Intern (1)
Would work equally in the lighting department and Scene Shop
Would work on A Christmas Carol as Spot Operator
Willing to work at heights of 20’-25’
Would be on the backstage crew/spot operator for at least 1 other show
Would be involved in Light hang and focus calls
What is involved in this internship:
Contract Dates are approx. Late August 2026 to (end of) June 2027
$549.20 per week (housing is not provided)
Cleaning
A clear working knowledge of a Professional Theatre
Lending support to the departments assigned
Intern meetings
Work 40 hours a week (overtime will be honored after 40hrs. have been worked within a Monday - Sunday period)
Mid-season reviews
Needs to be team oriented but can also maintain the stamina, focus, initiative needed to work individually.
Ability to switch departments if needed, including working for load-ins and strikes
Possess a good sense of time management
Possess problem solving skills
A willingness to learn
Airport Runs
A willingness to work long hours if needed

Acting/Administration Interns (2)
Would understudy for all shows - including 3 musicals
Would audition for all shows and be considered for roles
Would work in the administration office, box office and help to run a raffle table
Would possibly be on the backstage crew
Would be involved in all light hand and focus calls
Cleaning is a part of this internship
*PLEASE NOTE: ALL INTERNS MUST HAVE AT LEAST A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF LIGHTS (hang and focus and
ability to work at heights of 20’-25’* AS WELL AS, BE WILLING TO WORK ALL LOAD-IN’S AND STRIKES
